What is
Mystery in the City

"Can you unmask the culprit? Bring out the detective inside you as you explore the corners of your city."

Mystery in the City is an immersive outdoor team building activity in corporate Cluedo format. Teams become private investigators with a clear mission: identify the culprit behind a theft at the Royal Palace before time runs out.

To solve the mystery, they explore some of the most iconic spots in Madrid's city centre using a map, completing transit challenges and wit games, and encountering the story's characters who will either help them or try to throw them off track. The city becomes both the stage and part of the game.

When time is up, teams reconvene at the starting point to build their theory from all the clues collected. Each team presents who they believe is guilty and why. Only the team that correctly identifies what really happened takes home the reward.

How
Mystery in the City works

Four phases, one unsolved mystery, clues scattered across the city and a single winning team.

01
Briefing
We present the story, the characters and the context of the mystery. Teams are formed and each one receives their investigation folder: a city map, case documentation and everything needed for the mission.
02
Clue hunt
Teams head out to explore Madrid's city centre against the clock. At each point on the map they find transit challenges, wit games and the story's characters who will bring them closer to — or further from — the culprit.
03
Resolution
When time is up, teams reunite. With all the clues on the table they build their theory and choose a spokesperson to present it to the other teams. Each team defends who they believe is guilty and why.
04
Prize
The truth of the case is revealed. The team that correctly identified what really happened takes home the reward — real tension, a satisfying finish and the pride of having solved the mystery together.

An investigation where every profile has their
moment to shine

Mystery in the City combines three types of challenges designed so that different skills add value to the team. It is not won by whoever knows the city best or runs the fastest: it is won by the team that thinks best together.

Challenge type
Transit challenges
These take teams to strategic points on the map, requiring orientation, speed and planning. Choosing the right order for the route and reaching each checkpoint in time is what separates teams that collect clues from those that miss them.
Challenge type
Wit games
These test logic, creativity and the ability to decode enigmas. Riddles, ciphers and hidden clues that unlock key information for the case. Lateral thinking counts for more than speed here.
Challenge type
Team activities
Challenges that require genuine collaboration to complete. They strengthen communication and group cohesion in the middle of the investigation — right when the pressure starts to build.
Event finale
The mystery resolution
The most exciting moment: with all the clues on the table, each team presents their theory. The team that correctly names the culprit proves they have combined every skill in the group. There is only one answer.
The experience

Madrid like you've
never seen it.

Mystery in the City turns Madrid's historic centre into the setting of a real investigation. Teams are not tourists visiting monuments: they are detectives using them as part of the case. That difference transforms a city walk into a team building experience the group remembers long after the event.

It works because the narrative forces genuine cooperation. No single type of challenge dominates the outcome: the one who plans the best route, the one who cracks the riddles fastest, the one who stays calm under pressure and the one who reads the characters' clues correctly — everyone is needed to catch the culprit.

What the team experiences
during Mystery in the City

Outdoor activities in urban environments work as team building for a very specific reason: they take the group out of their usual space and give them a shared purpose that has nothing to do with day-to-day work. Mystery in the City goes further than "doing a team building": the team has a mission to solve a real case as true detectives. That shift in framing completely changes the attitude with which everyone participates.

What sets this format apart from other outdoor activities is that the narrative holds everything together. There is a real case with characters, suspects and clues that evolve throughout the route. That narrative coherence keeps immersion high from start to finish and makes every challenge feel meaningful within the story, not just within the game.

The final resolution is the moment that defines the event. After an hour and a half exploring the city, with clues from different sources and theories that have shifted along the way, each team has to agree on a single answer and defend it in public. That moment of synthesis activates communication and leadership skills that very few other activities manage to trigger so naturally.

The surprise factor is key. Throughout the route, teams encounter story characters who can help them or try to throw them off. That element of uncertainty keeps energy high and ensures the excitement lasts right to the very last second.

The mystery
with your
company's stamp

The Mystery in the City narrative can be enriched with your company's own references: corporate history milestones, team values, products or any element you want to weave into the case in an engaging way. The result is an investigation the group feels is uniquely theirs from the very first minute.

We also organise the experience in other Spanish cities, adapting the route and narrative to the chosen setting. Whether in Barcelona, Seville, Valencia or any other city, the mystery is designed so that the route's checkpoints are meaningful to the group.

Skills the team builds in
Mystery in the City

Behind the investigation and the adrenaline there is real teamwork. The variety of challenges activates different skills in each person and ensures everyone contributes to solving the case.

Communication

The final resolution requires the team to pool all the clues collected by different members during the route. Anyone who fails to share what they found drags the whole team down. Shared information is what solves the case.

Leadership

Planning the route, deciding which challenge to prioritise when time is tight and coordinating the team during the final presentation are moments that surface natural leaders across very different contexts.

Cooperation

Nobody solves the case alone. The team challenges woven into the route force people to rely on their teammates, and the final synthesis requires all individual information to become one collective theory.

Creativity

The wit games on the route do not have a single obvious solution: they require lateral thinking and connections between clues that are not always apparent. The team's creativity is what makes the difference between getting it right and falling just short.

Coordination

With limited time and several map points to visit, the team has to coordinate their route: decide the order, split tasks where necessary and arrive at each checkpoint on time. Planning on the move is coordination in its purest form.

Accountability

Every clue a team member collects is information the others do not have. That real dependency activates a level of engagement and attention that very few activities manage to trigger so naturally.

We had a group of thirty people, several of them from outside Madrid. We wanted something that would show them the city without feeling like a tourist excursion. The mystery hooked them from the first minute and by the end there were more theories than teams.
