What is the Master Cooking
cooking team building

"Whether you are a foodie or you can barely fry an egg, in this event the fun is guaranteed."

The Master Cooking is Froggy Events cooking team building for companies: a MasterChef-style culinary competition where teams cook real dishes from start to finish and present them to a jury that scores them on flavour and presentation. The aim is to score points round after round and take home the Competition Star at the end of the afternoon.

The activity comes in two formats depending on what the group is after: the menu format, with three rounds covering starter, main and dessert; or the tapas format, faster-paced and more dynamic, focused on creative finger food with three tapas rounds and a yoghurt cream as the closing flourish.

Throughout the event teams also answer culinary trivia that gives them an edge over their rivals: extra ingredients, special equipment or bonus points that can swing the result. The winner is not simply the team that cooks best, but the one that best combines culinary skill with team strategy.

How the Master Cooking
cooking team building works

Teams cook, present and defend their dish in front of the jury. Five phases in 90 minutes.

01
Briefing
We brief each team on what they are going to make and the equipment and ingredients available at their cooking station.
02
Cooking
Limited time to prepare the dish. The team decides on a strategy, splits the tasks and works keeping both flavour and presentation in mind.
03
Pitching
Each team presents their dish to the jury and explains the decisions taken: ingredients chosen, technique applied and the result they were after.
04
Scoring
The jury scores each dish on flavour and presentation. Points earned from the culinary trivia add up to each round score.
05
Award
After all the rounds, the jury picks the winning team, who takes home the Competition Star. The tastiest podium of the corporate year.

Two formats of the
cooking team building for companies

Both formats follow the same competitive dynamic, with the same rules, the same jury and the same culinary trivia. What changes is what gets cooked in each round.

Classic format
Menu Format
Three rounds to cook a full menu: a starter, a main and a dessert. Each round offers two options to choose from depending on the group. Teams start with the same fresh ingredients, but the culinary trivia lets them earn extra or premium ingredients that can make the difference when pitching to the jury.
Fast format
Tapas Format
Three rounds focused on creative finger food plus a team-made dessert. The first two rounds explore different tapa formats with premium ingredients, combining technique and presentation. The third round closes with a sweet dessert as the final flourish. Faster pace, sharper competition.

The competition

Flavour, presentation
and strategy.

The jury scores each dish on flavour and presentation. But there is an extra layer that makes this different: throughout the event teams answer culinary trivia, and getting it right earns them an edge over rivals — extra ingredients, special equipment or bonus points that can swing the scoreboard.

The winner is not simply whoever cooks best. It is the team that best combines creativity on the plate with team smarts across the rounds. The Competition Star is the tastiest trophy of the corporate year.

2
formats available: full menu or creative tapas, depending on what the group is after.
1
single Competition Star per event. The team that best combines cooking and strategy takes it home.

What the team lives through
during the cooking team building

The first thing that catches you in a well-run cooking team building is how fast the usual roles disappear. The director who never improvises at the office starts mixing ingredients on instinct. The most reserved person on the team turns out to be the one who plates the dish best. The kitchen levels out profiles in a way no meeting-room dynamic ever does.

Time pressure changes everything. With the clock ticking, the team cannot afford long debates: you have to decide, split tasks and trust the judgement of the person next to you. That ability to make fast decisions with incomplete information and under pressure is exactly what is hardest to train in a normal work environment. In the Master Cooking it happens entirely naturally, without anyone noticing it as an exercise.

The culinary trivia between rounds breaks the rhythm in the best possible way. A team that was ahead can fall behind by missing a question. A team that looked out of it can claw back in one go. That element of uncertainty keeps the competition alive until the last minute and stops anyone from coasting too early.

Pitching the dish to the jury is the moment cooking turns into communication. The team has to defend its decisions with arguments: why they chose that ingredient, what they were going for with that combination, what they sacrificed for lack of time. It is one of the few formats of cooking team building where the closing generates a real conversation about how the team works, not about how the game went.

Skills the team works on in this
cooking team building

Behind the apron and the ingredients there is real team work. Cooking under pressure brings out the best of every person and makes it visible to everyone.

Creativity

The dishes have no single right answer. Every team starts from the same ingredients and ends up with completely different outcomes. Collective creativity is what makes the difference in front of the jury.

Communication

With several elements to make at once and the clock running, fluid communication inside the team is the only way the dish comes out right. Whoever does not speak, blocks.

Leadership

Someone has to decide the dish strategy, someone has to split roles and someone has to keep the pace when the clock tightens. This cooking team building brings out natural leaders where nobody expected them.

Cooperation

No single person makes the dish. Each member contributes something to the final result and everyone shares the jury score. Cooperation is not optional: it is the only way forward.

Coordination

Preparing several elements at once on a single cooking station demands coordination: it is the only way to keep moving and finish the dish before the time runs out.

Accountability

There is a jury waiting and a score on the line. That context shifts everyone attitude: nobody slacks, nobody hides, everyone pushes in the same direction.

We had spent years doing team lunches at restaurants. The Master Cooking was the first time the day after we were still talking about what had happened the night before.

Frequently asked questions about
the cooking team building

No. The activity is designed so that anyone can take part with no prior knowledge. Whether you are a foodie or you can barely fry an egg, the fun is guaranteed. The dishes and tapas are designed so that creativity and teamwork make the difference, not culinary technique.

From 10 people up to large groups. The activity scales well because we set up as many cooking stations as there are teams. For larger groups we run several tables in parallel, each with its own equipment and ingredients.

We adapt to your company space or to any event venue in Madrid. We handle transport and full setup within the Madrid region. For locations outside Madrid, please ask us with no commitment.

The standard Master Cooking runs for 1.5 to 2 hours. There is an option to extend it with a full lunch add-on in the menu format, in which case the session can run a bit longer.

Yes. We adapt the ingredients for celiacs, vegetarians, vegans and people with food allergies or intolerances. Just let us know when you confirm the event and we take care of the rest.

The price depends on the number of participants, the format chosen (menu or tapas) and any optional extras. Get in touch for a no-commitment quote and we will come back within 24 hours with a tailored proposal.

A cooking team building is an activity for companies in which the team is split into groups that cook real dishes under time pressure and present them to a jury. In Froggy Events Master Cooking, the competition includes culinary trivia between rounds that gives advantages to the team that answers best, adding a layer of strategy on top of the culinary creativity.

A corporate cooking class is a learning activity where a chef teaches a dish and everyone replicates it. A cooking team building is competitive: teams start from the same ingredients but decide for themselves what to make, how to organise themselves and how to plate it. Team dynamics, time pressure and the jury verdict are what turn cooking into a cohesion tool, not just a workshop.
